Caryophyllene is a compound most often found in cloves. Caryophyllene (or β-Caryophyllene) is found in several edible plants, among those are a variety of spices, such as cinnamon, black pepper and cloves along with herbs, such as basil, rosemary, and oregano. Caryophyllene is also present in hops, a crucial flavoring agent used in making beer.
